From Fear To Faith

I can’t imagine people trying to live in a world of chance, seeking to find meaning, security, fulfillment and purpose in mere happenstance. It cannot be done especially in these trying times.

Some people follow the laws of nature and live accordingly. Others of different persuasion, believing man is the measure of all things, develop a stiff upper lip stoical attitude or believe their good deeds outweigh their bad deeds.

Others still create a god in their image, a god who is not all powerful. He would love to get rid of our pain and suffering, but some things are even too difficult for him.

Rabbi Kushner, in his best selling book of many years ago, “When Bad Things Happen to Good People” came to the conclusion that God could not help his suffering son, so he created in his own mind a very limited god. A god who wrings his hands longing to help, but is unable to. He mentions God’s love over power.

Some people adopt a position at the other end of the spectrum such as God is only brute power, a vengeful deity who would love to squash everyone beneath his fingers, but Jesus has to calm Him down.

These two positions could not be more wrong. God is All loving. He gave His Son for the world. He is also All powerful, creating everything both the visible and the invisible.

“Why do bad things happen to good people?” is not the right question to ask…rather: “Why do good things happen to bad people?” God alone is good. Take comfort in God’s promise: “Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.” Psalm 46:2

Confess your sins to the LORD. Put your faith and trust in Him. You will find meaning, freedom and security and you will move daily From Fear to Faith.
