Mother’s Day

Mothers are a wonderful blessing from God. They hold a child’s hands for a while but they hold their hearts forever.

Some people reading this short article have had great Mothers, others good Mothers and even some not so good Mothers. Some of your Mothers have passed on.

A. Passing On.

They have passed on their love to you in countless ways and in countless years. If they are Christian Mothers then they have also passed on their God-Given faith to you. They have prayed for you, encouraged you and studied the Bible with you. “Hear my son your Father’s instruction and forsake not your Mother’s teaching, for they are a graceful garland for your head and pendants for your neck.” (Proverbs 23 vs 22) “Honor your Father and your Mother.” (Matthew 15 vs 4) What does honoring them mean? It means to prize them highly, showing affection, respect and esteem to them.

B. A Mother Protects.

She will stay up with a sick child all night, into the wee hours of the morning in spite of having to work long hours the next day. Her work is never done. She will give her life to protect her family. Like a bear robbed of her cubs she will give her life for them. From the womb to the tomb they are priceless, having been made in the Image of God.

C. A Precious Wife

“A wife of noble character, who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.” (Proverbs 31 vs 10) “Greater still, a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” (Proverbs 31 vs 30)

Summing up, a Mother passes on her Faith. The apostle Paul says in 2 Timothy 1 vs 5 “I have been reminded of your sincere faith which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your Mother Eunice and I am persuaded now lives in you.” (Timothy) Timothy was a third generation Christian. Perhaps some of you are? (I am.) My Grandmother and my Mother modelled their faith in many ways to me by word and deed. A Godly Mother turns a house into a home which is a huge difference.

Honor your Mother, and if she has passed on, then honor your memories which will never be forgotten. I wish all of the Mothers a Happy Mothers Day.

Blessings,
