Many years ago there was a popular television program called What’s My Line? The guest panel would try to impersonate a famous person. At the end of the show the host would say, “Will the real so and so please stand up?” They would usually stump most of the audience. There are many impersonators and many false teachers presenting a false Christ. This is precisely the question Jesus put to His disciples in Matthew 16 verse 13 :”Who do people say that I am?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah and still others say Jeremiah or one of the Prophets.”
Many people will say today that Jesus was an inspiring teacher, a great philosopher, even a great Prophet. But Jesus is so much more. He is unique, one-of-a-kind. He does not belong on the same shelf with Buddha, Socrates or Muhammad. Only Jesus was absolutely pure, Holy and sinless. Jesus, only Jesus, qualifies as God’s perfect substitute for our sins. Only Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. Only Jesus is sovereignly in control of the largest planets to the smallest virus, especially this Corona Virus that is so prevalent instilling fear, depression and anxiety- not to mention financial hardship and bringing havoc upon the world. Only Jesus can give you comfort, strength and hope. He stood up and went to the cross becoming our refuge in times of trouble. The question should be changed to: “Will the real Jesus please stand up?” He already has. Will you stand up for Him?
Will you confess Him as your own personal Lord and Saviour? If you do then you will surely know who Jesus is.
